ANGUS GIBSON
I am a qualified licenced coach working with clients to support their mental health and help them learn the skills to lead a fulfilled life and to thrive. Before re-training as a licensed coach for the mental health programme Thrive Programme® I enjoyed a successful business career in music and audio-visual, starting out on my journey in the 1970’s and selling the business in 2004.
I have always held values of fairness, honesty, being non-judgmental, balanced, and empathetic. There is much research and evidence to show that we learn a significant amount as we grow up from our parents…I thank my late father who was a parish priest, for who I am.
““When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mould you, it feels damn good…”
Carl Rogers (1902–1987)
I coach the Thrive Programme® which is an evidence-based psychological course, designed to address key areas of our mental health and help us to thrive and lead a fulfilled life.
The 6–8-week programme helps to raise self-esteem and equip us with the coping skills to deal with experiences and events in our lives that can often be difficult or challenging, and to recognise unhelpful thinking styles and limiting beliefs, that prevent us from reaching our full potential.
If you, or anyone you know, are suffering from anxiety, stress, phobias, social anxiety, eating disorders, emetophobia or simply want to reset your life, this short intervention programme will help, the success rate is high.
At the end of the programme clients will have established powerful beliefs about their skillset and abilities, gaining high self-esteem, helpful thinking styles, improved social confidence and better coping skills.
HOW THE COACHING WORKS
I coach teenagers, young adults, and adults in 1:1 sessions. I work face to face and on Zoom. During the course of the programme, clients work through eight evidence-based modules, all of which have been carefully constructed to address different areas of our mental health.
Each week involves a one-hour session to discuss the content of each module, with follow up work to be undertaken ahead of the next session. Within the session, my role is to support, guide and ensure clients understand and ultimately adopt what they learn from the programme, so that they can thrive.
“The aim of Positive Psychology is to catalyse a change in psychology from a preoccupation only with repairing the worst things in life to also building the best qualities in life”.
