ANGUS GIBSON
I am a qualified licenced coach working with individual clients and organisations to support their mental health and raise EQ (emotional intelligence) to help them learn the skills to lead a fulfilled life both at work and in their personal life. Before re-training as a licensed coach with an established UK based mental health programme I enjoyed a successful career in music and audio-visual, starting out on my journey in the 1970’s and selling the business in 2004. Following the sale, I spent 15 successful years working in corporate business.
I have always held values of fairness, honesty, being non-judgmental, balanced, and empathetic. There is much research and evidence to show that we learn a significant amount as we grow up, from our parents… I thank my late father who was a parish priest, for who I am.
““When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mould you, it feels damn good…”
Carl Rogers (1902–1987)
I am a founder of the business coaching company Grey Matter, which offers evidence-based courses, designed to address key areas of our mental health and help us to thrive and lead a fulfilled life.
The 6-week programmes help raise self-esteem and equip us with the coping skills to deal with experiences and events in our lives that can often be difficult or challenging, and to recognise unhelpful thinking styles and limiting beliefs, that prevent us from reaching our full potential.
I work with small cohorts and senior management from successful companies and organisations, to help them established powerful beliefs about their skillset and abilities, to gain higher self-esteem, helpful thinking styles, improved social confidence and better coping skills.
HOW THE COACHING WORKS
During the course of the 6-week programme, delegates work through six evidence-based modules, all of which have been carefully constructed to address different areas of our mental health.
Each week involves a 1 ½ hour session to discuss the content of each module, with follow up work to be undertaken ahead of the next session. Within the session, my role is to support, guide and ensure clients understand and ultimately adopt what they learn from the programme, so that they can thrive.
“The aim of Positive Psychology is to catalyse a change in psychology from a preoccupation only with repairing the worst things in life to also building the best qualities in life”.
